  • Depending on your experience, the BOE may invite you to apply for registration as an EIT to complete the experience requirement and the National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE).
  • To apply, you must submit the following documents:
    • A completed application form – go here for an application form (Read More 1)
    • Application fees and dues
    • A copy of your degree certificate(s) and a copy of the original transcript of marks
    • A current detailed resume
    • Detailed and verified experience records (if you have over 48 months of engineering experience)
    • A current valid government issued photo identification
  • You can send your application and documents to applications@engineersnovascotia.ca

  • As an Engineer-in-Training, you are responsible for getting a mentor that meets the Board’s criteria:
    • A P.Eng. with Engineers Nova Scotia
    • Has 7 years engineering experience in the same discipline or has direct knowledge of the job scope
    • Is not a relative of the EIT
    • Should not be a direct supervisor

  • This is a bridging program at ISANS.
  • It connects IEEs with employers across Nova Scotia.
  • You are matched with an employer based on your education and qualifications.
  • The employer offers you a work placement in their organization for 12 weeks.
  • During this time, the employer assesses your engineering competences and provides feedback.
  • This program can benefit you in many ways:
    • You gain Canadian experience
    • You become familiar with Canadian workplace culture
    • You experience how your profession is practiced in Canada
    • You demonstrate your engineering competencies
    • You practice writing experience records
    • You identify any skill gaps
    • You gain references
  • The position is unpaid, but ISANS provides you with an honorarium.
  • The employer has no obligation to hire you, but it offers you the opportunity to show your qualifications to a Canadian employer.
  • To be eligible for this program, you must:
    • Be an IEE
    • Be a Permanent Resident or immigrant Canadian Citizen
    • Register with ISANS and meet with an employment specialist
    • Be committed to completing a 12-week on-the-job competency assessment
    • Have a language level at Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 6+
  • Work with an employment specialist at ISANS to apply for engineering positions in Nova Scotia.  Learn more about this under the heading Labour Market.
